✍️ Writing a story (approved writers)

Anyone can read and share a story, but only approved writers can create one. On the New Story page, type a topic or a headline into the box, up to 1,000 characters. Then there are two ways to send it:

Submit starts the story right away. The reporter searches the live web, the editor writes the story, and the photo desk finds a main image. It's usually done in under a minute.

Schedule for later lets you pick a date and time, then click Schedule. The story is written at that time and you don't need to keep the page open. Upcoming runs are listed under "Your Scheduled Runs" beside the form, where you can cancel one before it starts.

Either way, the finished story is emailed to the writer.

📄 Reading the story

Each story has a headline, a one-sentence summary, a byline with the date and number of sources, a photo, and a Key Facts box, followed by up to three short sections. Small numbers like [1] link straight to the source a passage relies on. Depending on the topic you may also see a Timeline, a "What we couldn't confirm" note where sources disagree, and Related coverage showing how other outlets covered it. The full numbered source list is at the bottom. Stories are AI-generated from web sources, so check anything important against those sources.

📋 Copying and sharing

"Copy as text" gives you plain paragraphs; "Copy for CMS" copies clean HTML that pastes formatted into Word, Google Docs, or a CMS. You can also send a story to someone else by email using "Share With Someone Else" at the bottom of the page. You need to register (confirm your email) to share, and that is all registering is for. Stories a writer requests, now or scheduled, are emailed to that writer automatically.
